Podium welcomes new Building Surveyor to the team

As part of Podium’s continued expansion, we are pleased to announce that Shams Ali has joined the team as a Building Surveyor.

Shams joins from the Berkeley Group, where he acted as Quality Champion and contributed to the delivery of several complex residential projects across White City Living and Westmont, including affordable rent homes in partnership with Legal & General, social housing on behalf of Southern Housing, and assisted living accommodation for Housing 21. His responsibilities covered the coordination of subcontractors, programme and quality monitoring, fire-stopping and waterproofing inspections, and the management of defects through to completion.

As a Technical Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, working towards a BSc in Design & Construction Management (Architectural Technology), Shams brings a strong combination of site-based delivery experience and technical knowledge that will directly support Podium’s growing building safety portfolio.

Shams said, “Events of recent years really opened my eyes to how critical building safety is, and that awareness is what ultimately drew me towards surveying. Moving from a principal contractor environment into a consultant role with Podium is exciting. It’s a chance to apply what I’ve learned on site, particularly around building safety and compliance, and to keep developing as a surveyor.”
